Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup rice any variety
  • 2 cups water or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt optional
  • 1 bay leaf optional
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder optional

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the rice under cold water to remove excess starch.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring the water or vegetable broth to a boil.
  • Add the rice, olive oil or butter, salt, and optional seasonings (bay leaf, garlic powder).
  • Stir once, cover, and reduce heat to low. Let the rice cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  • After 15 minutes, remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes, still covered.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving. Enjoy!
