- 1 cup rice any variety
- 2 cups water or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
- 1 teaspoon salt optional
- 1 bay leaf optional
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder optional
Rinse the rice under cold water to remove excess starch.
In a medium saucepan, bring the water or vegetable broth to a boil.
Add the rice, olive oil or butter, salt, and optional seasonings (bay leaf, garlic powder).
Stir once, cover, and reduce heat to low. Let the rice cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
After 15 minutes, remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes, still covered.
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving. Enjoy!
