Ingredients
  

For the Cake:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup kefir
  • 1 cup whole milk

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk or kefir adjust for desired consistency

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar:

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).

Add Eggs and Vanilla:

  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Add vanilla extract.

Incorporate Kefir and Milk:

  • Gradually mix in the kefir and whole milk, alternating with the dry ingredients, starting and ending with the dry mix. Stir just until combined.

Bake:

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool:

  • Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Prepare Frosting:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk/kefir until smooth and spreadable.

Frost the Cake:

  • Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake. Slice and serve.
