Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1.5 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion or use 1.5 teaspoons onion powder

For the Sliders

  • 1 pound Hawaiian rolls about 24 small rolls or 12 large ones
  • 1 pound thinly sliced deli ham use halal if avoiding pork
  • 1 pound Swiss cheese, sliced

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and minced onion. Stir until smooth and slightly thickened.
  • Slice the sheet of rolls in half horizontally without separating them. Place the bottom half in the baking dish.
  • Layer on half the ham, then all the cheese, followed by the remaining ham to ensure even melting and flavor.
  • Place the top half of the rolls back on. Slowly pour the glaze evenly over the rolls, letting it drip down the sides.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes to allow the sliders to heat through without over-browning.
  • Remove the foil and continue baking uncovered for another 10 minutes until golden and slightly crisp.
  • Let rest for a minute or two. Cut sliders apart with a sharp knife and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, assemble sliders ahead but pour glaze just before baking. Try other meats like turkey or roast beef for variation. Avoid soggy bottoms by baking covered then uncovered, and reheating in the oven instead of the microwave.
