Ingredients
  

Base

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 piece green bell pepper diced
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 3 teaspoons garlic freshly minced

Sauce

  • 30 oz tomato sauce 2 cans
  • 30 oz petite diced tomatoes 2 cans
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 3 pieces bay leaves

Pasta and Finish

  • 2 cups macaroni noodles uncooked
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and ground beef. Cook until beef is browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, and bay leaves.
  • Add uncooked macaroni and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and cook uncovered for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  • Remove bay leaves and discard.
  • Add shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra creaminess, stir in one cup of sour cream at the end. You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter option. Add vegetables like corn or peas for more nutrition. If freezing, store the sauce separately and cook fresh pasta later for best texture.
