Ingredients
  

For the Cake:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk adjust for desired consistency
  • Food coloring optional, for decoration

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a full sheet pan (18x13 inches) and line it with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Cake Batter:
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla:

  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients:

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and finish with the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth and fully combined.

  • While the cake cools, make the frosting. Beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating until smooth. Add vanilla extract and milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired frosting consistency.

Frost the Cake:

  • Once the cake is completely cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top. Use a spatula to smooth it out, or pipe decorative patterns if desired.

Decorate:

  • Add any additional decorations like school colors, fondant cutouts, or a graduation message to personalize the cake.
