Ingredients

  • 2 cups cold milk whole or 2%
  • 1 box 5.1 oz instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 container 8 oz Cool Whip, thawed (or homemade whipped cream)
  • 4 large ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 box 11 oz vanilla wafers

Instructions

Prepare the Pudding:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cold milk and instant vanilla pudding mix until smooth and thick (about 2 minutes).

Mix the Ingredients:

  • Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract to the pudding mixture, stirring until fully combined.

Fold in Whipped Topping:

  • Gently fold in Cool Whip (or homemade whipped cream) with a spatula until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Slice the Bananas:

  • Peel and slice ripe bananas into thin, even pieces. To prevent browning, you can lightly toss them in lemon juice (optional).

Layer the Pudding:

  • In a trifle bowl, baking dish, or dessert cups, add a layer of vanilla wafers at the bottom, followed by a layer of banana slices, and then a layer of pudding mixture. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a pudding layer.

Top and Garnish:

  • Spread additional Cool Whip over the top and garnish with whole vanilla wafers or banana slices for decoration.

Chill the Pudding:

  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • Once chilled, scoop into bowls and serve cold for the best taste and texture.
