Salmon Base
- 15 oz canned salmon, drained and flaked
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 0.5 unit red bell pepper, diced
Binding and Texture
- 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
Flavor
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic salt or substitute with salt and garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 0.25 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Cooking
- 2 tbsp olive oil divided
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter divided
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter. Sauté the chopped onion and bell pepper for 7–9 minutes until soft and lightly golden. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
In a large bowl, add the drained salmon and gently flake it with a fork.
Add the cooked vegetables, breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, black pepper, and parsley.
Mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the texture light and tender.
Shape the mixture into patties about 2 inches wide and 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick.
Heat remaining olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through. Flip carefully.
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm.
For best results, drain the salmon thoroughly to prevent patties from falling apart. You can also cook these in an air fryer at 390°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes or bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes, flipping halfway. Serve with lemon wedges and a light salad for a balanced meal.
